It’s Okay to Have a Few Drinks During Your Lunch Break in London

Similar to a local bar or coffee house, the wine bar has become a popular hangout location, particularly in London, where you can find one on almost every street. Traditional wine bars combine a selection of fine vinos with wine-related snacks, such as cheeses, chocolates and various desserts. Upscale and furnished with fine, rich furniture and décor, the first wine bars were often associated with the wealthy and seemed unapproachable by common people.

However, as wine in general became more popular in London (where the drink of choice has almost always been beer), wine bars began changing to offer a more inviting, less intimidating atmosphere. As a result, the establishments have become a great meeting point for people who prefer a fun, trendy environment that’s less crowded and noisy then a traditional bar or pub.

As many modern wine bars now include menus with appetizer-sized meals, they have become popular destinations for those enjoying lunch in the city during the day, especially for those on break from their job. It’s perfectly natural to enjoy a glass of wine during your lunch break, as it’s seen as more sophisticated then a glass of beer and less taboo then a couple of cocktails.

Wine bars are particularly popular lunch meeting destinations, as the quiet atmosphere is ideal for doing business. A wine bar offers a comfortable yet slightly formal environment, where the idea of a fancy restaurant combines with the convenience and comfort of a pub or bar.

On top of offering a unique atmosphere, wine bars undoubtedly have a greater selection of wines then other restaurants, bars or pubs in the city. Most wine bars have their own wine cellars, where guests can choose a bottle or select from a glass-only menu. Because wine is a becoming a very popular drink, both in London and throughout the world, this obviously increases the wine bar’s popularity. People are no longer satisfied with a glass of red or white, but want a quality selection they can learn about.
